Búsqueda

Búsqueda means “the search” in Spanish. We searched for the best aged rum we could make. We found it when we put our beautifully made Land Legs Rum in American oak barrels and gave it time. The result—almost magical—an oaky, sweet rum with vanilla and leather flavors perfect on its own, or on the rocks and not too shabby in Hemingway daiquiris or with Coke. We wanted this label to be elegant like the rum inside the bottle. We were inspired by the rain forests of Puerto Rico and Juan Ponce de León’s search for the Fountain of Youth. However, unlike the elusive Fountain of Youth, we found our rum—Búsqueda. And we are very proud of it!

Búsqueda is just perfect sipped neat. But if you insist, this rum is great mixed. Pair with sweet drinks (like Coke) or with citrus juices for a perfect cocktail.

NEITHER DARK NOR STORMY

We created this drink on a hot July day using the wonderful Lemon Ginger Raft Syrup. This is a great drink—refreshing and so mutable. We would try it with crushed blackberries (our blackberry bushes did not yield any fruit this year, must prune) or maybe muddle some basil for a savory drink. You are welcome.

1 shot of Domaine De Canton
1.5 shots of Busqueda
1 tablespoon Raft Lemon Ginger Syrup
Large squeeze of lemon
Shake all ingredients with ice. Serve in an old fashioned with crushed ice. Garnish with maraschino cherry, or a piece of candied ginger, or lemon wedge.

AGED RUM DAIQUIRIS

We love our silver rum Land Legs in daiquiris in the summer. It is just perfect. But when the rains come to Portland, there is something to be said about the vanilla and the tannins of our beautiful Busqueda. Here, the daiquiri takes on warmer tones, we like to serve it in a coupe glass.

2 parts Busqueda
1 part lime juice
1 part simple syrup
Shake all ingredients with ice, strain into a coupe glass. Perfection.

BUSQUEDA ROSEMARY NEGRONI

Negronis with rum? Yes! Why not? This one is amazing. And with muddled rosemary, even better. Try it this fall.

1 part Busqueda
1 part Campari
1 part sweet vermouth
1 large sprig rosemary
Muddle the rosemary with the vermouth and Campari. Add the Busqueda and shake with ice. Strain. Serve in an old fashioned glass on the rocks.

RUM OLD FASHIONED

One of our favorite things to do in Portland is to try local products. The folks at The Bitter Housewife are our friends and we love their bitters, particularly, their grapefruit bitters.

2 shots Busqueda
14 drops Bitter Housewife Grapefruit Bitters
2 Tablespoon simple syrup
Stir all ingredients together and pour in an old fashioned glass with ice cubes. Garnish with an orange slice or a maraschino cherry.
